Neha Venkatesh is a Seattle-based Bharatanatyam dancer and disciple of Smt. Shweta Prachande. She has performed in London, Chennai, Geneva, Tokyo, and the US, and toured North America in 2025 with Priyadarsini Govind's production Yavanika.
A recent University of Washington graduate in Informatics and Dance, Neha trained in western and contemporary forms through the UW School of Dance, including a five-week dance intensive in London. She spent four years with UW's premier award-winning classical dance team, Natya at UW, serving as Choreography Lead and later Co-Captain.
Across her work, Neha is drawn to honoring the integrity, depth, and complexity of classical Indian dance while making it more accessible to new audiences, regardless of their prior exposure to the form.

A collaborative work created by my dance team Natya at UW, for which I served as Choreography Lead and played the role of Shakuni. This piece tells the story of Shakuni and how he became the villain we know him as in the Mahabharata.

Currently working on my first solo choreographic work, exploring how Bharatanatyam can hold both deep technical tradition and the freedom to be reshaped - for audiences who know the form as well as those encountering it for the first time.
An Analysis of Bharatanatyam from an Anatomical Perspective
Presented at the UW Informatics Research Symposium, 2026.
By studying standardized instructional cues in Bharatanatyam pedagogy, this research conducted under the mentorship of Professor Hannah Wiley investigated training methodologies in Bharatanatyam and proposed a shift toward more personalized, anatomy-informed teaching.
